"Lost in Script" is a cultural initiative dedicated to safeguarding the beauty and legacy of the Georgian script, a language under the growing threat of cultural erosion. With 20% of Georgian territory currently occupied, the risk of losing vital aspects of Georgia’s heritage is real.
This project is a call to action—to designers, type foundries, and language enthusiasts—to learn, teach, and create with the three living alphabets of Georgia: Asomtavruli, Nuskhuri, and Mkhedruli. Through interactive learning experiences, innovative design, and educational resources, Lost in Script celebrates and promotes the Georgian alphabet’s role in cultural identity.
The Georgian script is unique, featuring three living alphabets—Asomtavruli, Nuskhuri, and Mkhedruli—that reflect Georgia’s rich cultural and historical evolution.
The earliest Georgian alphabet, used in ancient inscriptions.
The medieval script, often used in religious manuscripts.
The modern Georgian script, used in daily life.
